Helping To Build A Better Community
Community Keepers Mission
Our Mission is to assist low-income families with infants and toddlers by providing disposable diapers and addressing the community's needs.
Programs
Healthy Bottoms
Is a service that provides disposable diapers through referrals, for low-income parents with infants and toddlers. More than one-in-three families struggle with diaper needs. The average household falls short of 19 diapers each month according to a study conducted by the National Diaper Bank Network, and Huggies. Federal assistance programs such as WIC/TANF do not directly address this need. Our objective is to do what we can to help assist families in our community. Safe Walk
The objective is to provide safety lights to students in University Place who walk to and from school or to their bus stop, this is vital especially during Daylight savings time. Over time, significant street improvements have been made in our area; however, the dangers of distracted drivers have increased. Our goal with this project is to partner with schools and our local law enforcement agencies to ensure our students are seen and safe.
Book Buggie
Is an early literacy program that encourages parents to read to their little ones. It is never too early for a parent to start reading to their children, after all, he/she is already used to hearing mommy’s voice by the third trimester. According to Zero to Three (Zerotothree.org), “reading together when babies are as young as four months old increases the chances that parents continue reading to babies as they get older.” Community Keepers will do its part by including a book with the initial first pack of diapers distributed to each family.
Health Awareness Feature of the Month
Is to bring attention to the lesser-known disease and disorders that some in our community may not be aware of. We believe that raising awareness would help to improve the knowledge of diseases and disorders, to dispel cultural taboos, fears, and stereotypes; to recognize their symptoms, to gain access to quality healthcare and ultimately treatment options that could possibly save lives. Every month a Featured Health Awareness Link will be posted.
